Shares of Sherwin-Williams (SHW) surged 8.07% in intraday trading on Tuesday, building on significant pre-market gains after the paint and coatings giant reported second-quarter financial results that surpassed Wall Street expectations and raised its full-year profit forecast.

The robust stock movement was triggered by the company’s Q2 earnings report, released before the market opened. Sherwin-Williams posted adjusted earnings per share of $3.70, soundly beating the consensus analyst estimate of $3.52. Revenue climbed 7.5% year-over-year to $6.79 billion, also exceeding the projected $6.60 billion. The strong performance was attributed to effective selling price increases and volume growth, which helped counterbalance the pressure on gross margins from elevated raw material costs.

Further fueling investor optimism, management raised its full-year 2026 guidance. The company now expects adjusted earnings per share in a range of $11.80 to $12.20, up from a prior forecast of $11.50 to $11.90 and above the analyst consensus of $11.76. The outlook for full-year net sales growth was also lifted to a mid-to-high single-digit percentage range, signaling confidence in sustained demand and pricing power. Additionally, the company highlighted restructuring actions expected to generate around $17 million in annual savings and announced an upcoming 8% price increase in its Paint Stores Group segment to address ongoing inflationary pressures.
