Recently, the Haidian District Market Supervision Bureau in Beijing investigated and penalized a retail store for selling products suspected of infringing on the registered trademark rights of "POP MART."

Following a consumer complaint, market supervision enforcement officers visited the merchant's business premises and discovered multiple products on the shelves bearing "POP MART" and "THE MONSTERS" labels, including blind boxes and plush keychains. These products had packaging designs and brand logos that closely resembled genuine POP MART products, but exhibited obvious issues such as poor packaging quality and lack of proper anti-counterfeiting marks.

After professional verification by POP MART's trademark rights holders, it was confirmed that all these products were not manufactured by the company or its authorized enterprises, and were identified as infringing goods. Investigation revealed that the merchant had purchased these counterfeit products from irregular online channels and was selling them at prices lower than genuine products.

In accordance with relevant provisions of the Trademark Law of the People's Republic of China, the Haidian District Market Supervision Bureau imposed administrative penalties on the merchant, including confiscation of all infringing products and monetary fines, while ordering immediate cessation of the infringement activities. The seized counterfeit products were destroyed in accordance with the law, and leads regarding upstream production and supply units were traced.

The Beijing Market Supervision Bureau reminds consumers that "POP MART" trademarks and related products have high market recognition, while counterfeit products often suffer from inferior materials and poor craftsmanship. Consumers not only fail to obtain satisfactory consumption experiences but may also face potential health threats due to product quality issues. If consumers discover suspected infringing products, they can promptly call the 12315 or 12345 hotlines to report, jointly maintaining a favorable consumption environment and fair, orderly market order.

The bureau also advises merchants to strictly comply with the Trademark Law of the People's Republic of China, its Implementation Regulations, and other relevant laws and regulations, refraining from purchasing or selling unauthorized products or other goods suspected of infringing registered trademark rights.
