The Ascott Limited said on Sep, 24 2025 that its upper-midscale Citadines portfolio has grown to 205 properties with about 35,000 units worldwide, crossing the 200-property milestone for the first time. More than 60% of the portfolio—127 properties with roughly 22,200 units—are already operational.

Since a brand refresh three years ago, Ascott has secured more than 50 additional Citadines management and franchise deals covering about 8,000 units. One-quarter of those signings were conversions, and the brand entered 18 new cities including Colmar, Hobart, Liverpool, Surabaya, Phu Quoc, Udupi, Tangier, Marrakech and Kuwait, as well as several tier-2 Chinese hubs such as Changshu and Foshan.

Conversions remain a key driver: they accounted for 61% of Ascott’s global unit openings in the first seven months of 2025. Recent examples include Citadines Antasari Jakarta, rebranded and opened within three weeks in Aug, 2025, and Citadines City Centre Liverpool, converted in about three months and opened in Jun, 2025.

Franchise growth is accelerating. Citadines now has 15 franchised properties with about 2,000 units, and four of five signings in China this year were franchise agreements. One of these, Citadines Universiade Centre Longgang Shenzhen, is on track to open in Nov, 2025, eight months after signing. Outside Asia, the brand entered Morocco with the franchise-run Citadines Almaz Casablanca, which opened in early 2025.

Ascott plans to open 20 additional Citadines properties by the end of 2026, including projects in Australia, Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Morocco and the Philippines.
