NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang is scheduled to travel to Washington, D.C. this week for meetings with US lawmakers, focusing on the future development of artificial intelligence and America's competitive position in the global AI landscape.

A spokesperson for NVIDIA confirmed that Huang will visit Capitol Hill to engage with both Republican and Democratic members of Congress. The discussions will center on "America's leadership in artificial intelligence, including the leading role of open-source technology."

The spokesperson also indicated that Huang intends to underscore NVIDIA's dedication to building AI infrastructure within the United States. The company has pledged to produce up to $500 billion worth of AI infrastructure on American soil.

On Tuesday, Huang is set to meet with Virginia Democratic Senator Mark Warner, the leading Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee. Senator Warner's office has confirmed the scheduled meeting. The meeting comes after Warner expressed concerns regarding AI-related security risks, following a recent cyber incident involving OpenAI.

Ahead of this visit, Huang recently reiterated his support for open-source AI models in a post on X. He stated, "Open models enhance security and cybersecurity, accelerate innovation and dissemination, and promote sovereignty." His remarks add NVIDIA's voice to the intensifying policy debate over whether open AI models foster innovation and safety or introduce new risks by making advanced technology more widely accessible.
