Iran's Oil Minister, Mohsen Paknejad, has announced that the core terms of a final agreement on natural gas trade between Iran and Russia have been fully agreed upon, with both sides now planning to formally sign the pact in the shortest possible time.

Paknejad noted that the framework negotiations on gas trade between the two nations recently achieved a breakthrough, with Tehran formally urging Moscow to expedite the final implementation of the agreement. During a dedicated meeting with Russian Energy Minister Sergei Tsivilev, the comprehensive expansion of bilateral strategic cooperation in the energy sector was a central topic of discussion.

According to reports from Iran's official news agency Shana, institutional investment cooperation in the oil and gas sectors between the two countries is also deepening alongside the gas trade. Paknejad emphasized that the two sides have conducted in-depth consultations on project details for Russian energy companies to invest in and develop oil and gas fields within Iran. They have also formulated specific alternative solutions to address the existing phased technical and institutional challenges in the current cooperation.
