Shimao Group published its 10th Sustainability Report, covering operations from 1 January to 31 December 2025 across its headquarters and subsidiaries. The report aligns with HKEX ESG Reporting Code requirements and details environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance as well as future reduction targets.

Governance structures feature a three-tier model led by the Board, an ESG Management Committee comprising senior executives, and an ESG Working Group with five specialist taskforces. All nine group-wide sustainability policies remained in force throughout 2025.

Environmental performance highlights include a cumulative 94.12 million m² of certified green buildings, with 0.44 million m² newly added during 2025. The portfolio holds 7 LEED Gold, 2 LEED Silver, and 530 China Green Building Label certificates (6 three-star, 110 two-star, 363 one-star, 51 basic). Green construction measures—such as aluminium alloy formwork, autoclaved lightweight concrete panels and intelligent dust-control systems—were rolled out across key projects, while no major environmental violations or penalties were recorded.

Total greenhouse-gas emissions reached 3,161.10 tCO₂e, comprising 633.44 tCO₂e (Scope 1) and 2,527.66 tCO₂e (Scope 2). Emission intensity stood at 0.36 tCO₂e per m². Energy consumption totalled 4,665.54 MWh (0.53 MWh per m²), of which 4,375.39 MWh derived from purchased electricity. Water use amounted to 62,952.72 tonnes (7.15 tonnes per m²), and non-hazardous waste generation was 22.70 tonnes (0.00258 tonnes per m²).

Medium-term environmental commitments, using 2021 as the baseline, target 5–17 % cuts in carbon emissions, 5–12 % reductions in energy use and 5–10 % cuts in water consumption within ten years, alongside 100 % community waste-sorting coverage.

On the social front, Shimao employed 621 staff—347 women and 274 men—with women representing 56 % of the workforce. All employees received training, totalling 1,242 hours. Occupational-health performance recorded zero work-related fatalities, two injuries and 60 lost workdays; safety-training coverage for employees and contractors reached 100 %.

Supply-chain oversight covered 3,571 suppliers, each undergoing onboarding assessment and signing Shimao’s integrity commitment. Performance reviews address schedule, quality, cooperation and compliance; under-performing suppliers face rectification or termination.

Anti-corruption efforts included six internal training sessions; 100 % of directors, staff and key suppliers signed codes of conduct, and two corruption-related lawsuits were concluded during the year.

Community initiatives focused on age-friendly and child-friendly services. Programmes ranged from free medical checks and anti-fraud training for senior residents to educational markets and themed play areas for children, reinforcing Shimao’s commitment to nurturing inclusive, sustainable communities.
