Domestic Oil Price Adjustment Scheduled as International Crude Surges

International oil prices posted significant gains last week as multiple factors converged to drive the commodity higher. The United States continued to pressure various countries to reduce purchases of Russian energy products, while U.S. commercial crude oil inventories declined far more than market expectations anticipated.

These combined factors resulted in substantial weekly gains for crude oil, with West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude climbing 4.85% and Brent crude advancing 5.17%.

The current oil price adjustment cycle has reached its fifth working day. Based on crude oil price changes, domestic gasoline and diesel prices are set to increase by 160 yuan per ton, translating to an increase of 0.13 to 0.14 yuan per liter at the pump.

The official price adjustment is scheduled for 24:00 on October 13, 2025.

Throughout 2025, domestic oil prices have undergone 19 adjustments, consisting of 6 increases, 7 decreases, and 6 instances where prices remained unchanged. The upcoming adjustment represents the 20th price movement of the year.

According to expert forecasts, the recent consecutive gains in international crude oil prices have pushed this cycle's opening above the adjustment threshold, though not by a significant margin. However, the probability of an oil price increase has risen considerably.
