Jefferies analysts have indicated in a research report that memory chip prices may be approaching their peak. While the market anticipates a sequential price increase of 25% to 30% for memory chips in the third quarter, the latest industry checks by Jefferies suggest a more moderate rise of between 15% and 20%.
The analysts believe that the majority of the price increases are being driven by cloud service providers, whereas consumer electronics manufacturers are showing signs of fatigue toward further price hikes. "The visibility for a further sequential increase in 2027 is low," the Jefferies analysts stated, adding that the timing of the peak in memory chip prices may come sooner than initially expected.
