Focusing on Age-Friendly Renovations to Safeguard Home Care Safety

The adaptation of housing for seniors with special difficulties has been incorporated into key livelihood projects. By precisely addressing the living needs of the elderly, disabled, and destitute, safety handrails, anti-slip facilities, and bedside rails are being added to older homes. This effectively reduces safety risks for seniors when moving around at home, including daily activities and getting out of bed. It is reported that the city plans to complete 656 such home renovations by 2026, with 268 already successfully finished.

Optimizing Convenient Services to Enhance the Quality of Health and Care Services

Through government procurement of third-party services, customized "five-assistance" home services—including meal assistance, cleaning assistance, medical assistance, mobility assistance, and emotional support—are provided to elderly individuals living alone, with disabilities, or in destitution. Concurrently, centralised day-care volunteer services in urban areas are being promoted. This involves coordinating with local medical institutions to open green medical channels and regularly conducting free clinics and health knowledge lectures. These convenient activities bring high-quality health and care services directly to seniors, greatly enriching their spiritual, cultural, and healthy lives.

Innovating Smart Elderly Care to Solve Rural Elderly Care Challenges

Leveraging digital technology to empower elderly care services, Yimen Town is being established as a benchmark, creating a "Hui Yang Bang Ban" (Smart Care Assistant) model for elderly care. An intelligent elderly care service platform is being built, providing free smart wristbands, emergency call buttons, and smoke alarm sensors to rural seniors living alone. A community "smart hub" is being established, forming a closed-loop service model where seniors can call for help with one button, the platform dispatches tasks intelligently, and the entire service process is traceable. This provides round-the-clock protection for the home safety of rural seniors living alone, effectively solving their difficulties with emergency assistance and daily errands.

Implementing Diverse Meal Assistance Programs to Protect Seniors' Three Meals a Day

To address the dining challenges faced by the very elderly, a diversified meal assistance model is being implemented, combining "government subsidies, personal contributions, and social donations". At the same time, a two-way service system of "centralised dining in urban areas plus home delivery" is being built, effectively solving the "difficulty in eating" problem for seniors.

Deepening Mutual Aid Elderly Care to Warmly Empower Seniors' Later Years

Party-building-led voluntary elderly care is being deepened, promoting the "curtain action" neighbourhood watch mechanism and a mutual aid model where younger seniors help older ones. Specialised volunteer service teams are being formed to regularly provide warm services such as free haircuts, companionship during festivals, and psychological counselling. This fosters a strong atmosphere of neighbourhood mutual assistance and respect for the elderly. Currently, the city has built 43 public elderly care service institutions, including 1 nursing home, 6 town (street) regional elderly care service centres, 14 community day-care centres, and 22 rural mutual aid happiness homes.
