Bank of Shanghai's President Shi Hongmin Emphasizes Revenue Enhancement as Key to ROE Improvement

At the annual general meeting of shareholders held on May 22, Bank of Shanghai's President Shi Hongmin addressed the topic of improving Return on Equity (ROE). He stated that the primary focus for enhancing ROE remains on the "R" component, which involves further strengthening the bank's revenue-generating capabilities.

President Shi Hongmin outlined that Bank of Shanghai will concentrate on driving growth from three main revenue streams: net interest income, fee and commission income, and other operating income. Specifically, the bank plans to increase the volume of general loans, optimize its business structure, and steadily improve loan yields to enhance the contribution of net interest income to total operating revenue. Furthermore, it aims to expand key products and services in areas such as wealth management, custody, and underwriting to boost net fee and commission income. Additionally, the bank will strengthen its investment and trading capabilities to maintain a stable level of other non-interest income.

Shi Hongmin also noted that Bank of Shanghai will continue to optimize its cost structure, allocate resources strategically to key areas, and manage capital prudently. These measures are intended to holistically improve the contribution of the revenue side to the bank's overall ROE.
