Shipping data released on Monday shows that despite attacks on vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz, crude oil exports from the Middle East exceeded pre-war levels on four of the seven days in the final week of September.

Preliminary data from ship-tracking firm Kpler indicates that the region's crude exports surpassed pre-war levels on September 24 and during the period from September 27 to 29, rising to between 19.5 million and 22.5 million barrels per day.

Before the outbreak of conflict between the US and Israel and Iran, spanning March 2025 to February of this year, exports averaged 18 million barrels per day.

The data shows that the 7-day moving average of crude exports on October 1 stood at 18.5 million barrels per day.

The figures cover shipments through both the Strait of Hormuz and the Red Sea, exports from terminals, and ship-to-ship transfers conducted in the Gulf of Oman.

According to Kpler data, during the week ending September 30, total shipments of crude oil, refined products, chemicals, and non-gaseous liquids averaged 22.4 million barrels per day.

In September, the number of LNG vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz also increased, reaching the highest monthly level since February.

The above data does not account for vessels that passed through the strait with their Automatic Identification System (AIS) transponders turned off in order to evade monitoring.
