Jinchuan International Reports Strong Q1 Copper Production, Up Nearly 30% Year-on-Year

For the first quarter of 2026, the company's mining operations produced 18,021 tonnes of copper contained in cathode and concentrate, representing an increase of approximately 29.5% compared to the same period in 2025.

This growth was primarily attributed to the additional contribution from the Musonoi mine, the group's third operational mine which commenced commercial production in the Democratic Republic of Congo in November 2025.

This increase was partially offset by reduced output at the Ruashi mine due to unstable power supply from the national grid and maintenance activities at the acid plant.

The group also produced 2,139 tonnes of cobalt contained in cobalt hydroxide during the quarter, a significant rise from the 71 tonnes produced in Q1 2025, also due to the Musonoi mine's contribution.

Sales of copper contained in cathode and concentrate for the quarter amounted to 11,689 tonnes, showing a slight decrease of about 2.2% year-on-year.

The company sold 7 tonnes of cobalt, whereas there were no cobalt sales in the corresponding quarter of 2025.

The decline in copper sales was primarily due to a temporary export ban imposed by the DRC government from January to February 2026 on Ruashi Mining SAS, an indirectly owned subsidiary which holds the Ruashi and Musonoi mining properties.

Sales activities resumed in March 2026.

The minimal cobalt sales volume was a result of prolonged administrative procedures related to the cobalt export quota granted by the DRC government to the Ruashi mine in 2025.
