A report from the State Administration for Market Regulation on August 8 reveals that in the first half of 2026, enterprises in emerging industries and new tracks continued to gain momentum, with 116,000 new companies being established in the humanoid robotics field, representing a 9.5% year-on-year increase.

The service sector saw notable operational highlights, while manufacturing enterprises accelerated their transformation, leading to a vibrant industrial landscape. Overall, 561,000 new companies were registered in the combined "eight major emerging industries and nine future industries" during the first half of the year, maintaining a steady growth trajectory.

Some frontier sectors experienced explosive growth. The generative artificial intelligence field saw 55,000 new enterprises, a 28.0% year-on-year increase. In the humanoid robotics sector, 116,000 new firms were established, up 9.5% from the previous year. The service sector recorded 3.957 million new enterprises, level with the same period last year. Traditional commerce remained stable, with 1.737 million new enterprises in the wholesale and retail trade.

New consumer formats showed strong vitality. The "silver economy" industry added 31,000 new related enterprises, a 16.0% year-on-year increase. The number of "famous, special, excellent, and new" individual businesses reached 184,000. High-tech services expanded rapidly, with the information transmission and software technology services sector adding 322,000 new enterprises, up 3.3%, and the technology achievement transformation services sector adding 459,000 new enterprises, a 6.8% increase.

The transformation and upgrading of manufacturing enterprises has accelerated. The equipment manufacturing industry is moving toward high-end sectors, with 28,000 new enterprises in high-end equipment manufacturing, a 2.5% year-on-year increase. Among them, the intelligent equipment manufacturing sector grew by 6.4%, and the urban rail equipment manufacturing sector grew by 4.4%. High-tech manufacturing demonstrated strong growth momentum. By the end of June, the total number of high-tech manufacturing enterprises reached 330,000, with 15,000 newly established in the first half of the year. Notably, the spacecraft and launch vehicle manufacturing sector saw a 185.7% increase in new enterprises, the optical fiber and cable manufacturing sector rose by 129.4%, and the integrated circuit manufacturing sector grew by 24.2%.
