Diabetes technology firm MiniMed announced on Monday the appointment of Alcon CEO David Endicott and Medtronic executive Linnea Burman to its board of directors, effective immediately. This move expands the board's size from nine to eleven members.

David Endicott currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of global eye care leader Alcon. He has been a director at Alcon since 2019 and previously led the company's spin-off from Novartis and its return to the public markets. MiniMed CEO Que Dallara noted that Endicott brings decades of operational leadership experience across the healthcare sector, and his firsthand experience with a spin-off and IPO is particularly valuable for MiniMed's development as an independent company.

Endicott's career spans several global pharmaceutical and medical device companies. He previously served as President of Hospira Infusion Systems at Pfizer and spent over 25 years at Allergan, leading businesses across the United States, Europe, Asia, and Latin America. He will serve on MiniMed's Compensation and Talent Committee.

Linnea Burman currently holds the position of Senior Vice President and President of the Neurovascular business at Medtronic PLC (ASX: MDT). She has been with Medtronic for over 19 years, having served as Vice President and General Manager for businesses including enabling technologies, cranial and spinal technologies, and pelvic health and gastric therapies. Medtronic PLC (ASX: MDT) remains the largest shareholder in MiniMed following its spin-off and IPO earlier this year and designated Burman for the board position.

MiniMed was spun off from Medtronic PLC (ASX: MDT) and launched as an independent public company this year. It focuses on insulin delivery systems, continuous glucose monitoring, and algorithm technology, serving people with diabetes in over 80 countries worldwide.
