Government Implements Temporary Fuel Price Adjustments Amid Rising Global Oil Costs

Since domestic refined oil prices were last adjusted on August 28, escalating tensions between the US and Iran have driven international crude oil prices sharply higher, with particularly abnormal surges observed in Middle East oil benchmarks. To cushion the domestic market from the impact of rising global oil costs and to safeguard economic stability and public wellbeing, the government has decided to introduce temporary control measures on domestic refined oil prices while maintaining the existing pricing framework.

Under the current pricing mechanism, the standard-grade gasoline and diesel prices were projected to rise by 435 yuan and 420 yuan per tonne respectively on September 11. However, following the implementation of the temporary measures, the actual increases have been set at 260 yuan and 250 yuan per tonne, effectively moderating the pass-through of international price movements to domestic consumers.

The relevant authorities will guide refined oil producers and distributors to fully ramp up output and logistics to guarantee stable market supply. In parallel, intensified market supervision and inspection efforts will be carried out to strictly penalize any violations of national pricing policies or other illegal practices, thereby upholding market order and protecting consumer interests.
