In the wake of Typhoon No. 19, which caused short-term flooding and soil acidification in some paddy fields in Jiangzhou Town, local authorities have swiftly implemented a technological solution to aid recovery. Recently, the sight of agricultural drones carrying nutrient solutions shuttling back and forth over the fields near Jiangzhou Community brought relieved smiles to local farmers, who had been concerned about the weakened growth of their rice seedlings. The town's Party committee and government took immediate action, organizing village cadres and agricultural technicians to guide farmers in draining water, straightening lodged seedlings, and intensifying pest and disease monitoring. To minimize disaster losses further, the town proactively coordinated with the Jiangzhou District Agriculture and Rural Bureau to secure support from the district's project for managing polluted farmland. This initiative provides free drone-based spraying of a silicon-calcium soil conditioner over 919.6 mu of rice fields in Jiangzhou Community. This combined approach of advanced technology and agronomic expertise has accelerated the post-disaster agricultural recovery process. According to Liang Zengsong, a technician from the Jiangzhou Town Agricultural Service Center, the conditioner's primary components are silicon and calcium, essential for rice growth. "Rice thrives with silicon, which strengthens stems and keeps leaves upright, reducing the risk of lodging. Calcium also fortifies the root system," he explained, noting that the application neutralizes soil acidity caused by long-term fertilization, improves soil structure, and boosts the crop's resilience against diseases and high temperatures. These characteristics are crucial for recovery after a typhoon. At the operation site, technicians loaded the prepared conditioner into the drone's tank. Following a pre-set flight path, the drone hovered low over the fields, depositing uniform particles onto the rice leaves and soil. An operator on site highlighted the efficiency: "A single drone can cover as much area in a day as several people, with precise dosage and even coverage. It's particularly effective for seizing the critical farming window after a disaster." The initiative has been warmly received by the community. "The government is helping us improve the soil and supplement nutrients for free. This is truly a timely rain," said Du Minghong, a rice grower from Jiangzhou Community. Wu Chunyan, the deputy mayor of Jiangzhou Town, confirmed that the spraying operation across all 919.6 mu is progressing in an orderly fashion. She outlined the next steps, which include continuous monitoring of rice growth, strengthening water and fertilizer management, implementing green pest control measures, and promoting multi-spray, multi-promote strategies to ensure the safety of the people's grain supply and lay a solid foundation for stable and increased annual grain production.
