AI-generated animation dramas, which use artificial intelligence to create 2D, 3D, or simulated live-action episodes, are drawing a fast-growing wave of young professionals. The latest generation of AI video generation models has been rolling out with major upgrades, giving creators smarter tools that boost production efficiency significantly.

This wave of new technology is also reshaping the job market. Industry data shows that by the first half of 2026, the number of active practitioners in China's AI animation drama sector had already surpassed 500,000. In the first quarter alone, demand for roles tied to AI animation and AI-powered simulated live-action short dramas grew by nearly 70% year on year. By June, job postings for AI video editors had jumped an eye-popping 179% compared with the same period last year.

Market projections point to even faster expansion ahead. The full-year market size for AI animation dramas in China is expected to break 40 billion yuan in 2026, up 138% year on year. Overseas revenue from these productions is set to top 4 billion US dollars. Meanwhile, domestic user adoption has already hit 600 million people in the first half of the year, underscoring how quickly this format is becoming a mainstream entertainment choice.
