The initial shipment of six automated rail-mounted gantry cranes, carried by the vessel "Zhenhua 32," has officially departed from Nantong, Jiangsu Province, heading to the Xiaoyangshan North Operations Area of the Shanghai Yangshan Deep-Water Port. This voyage signifies that the project has entered the vital phase of bringing in core equipment.

Manufactured by Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries, these automated dual-cantilever rail-mounted gantry cranes feature a rated load capacity of 41 tonnes under the spreader, a span of 37 meters, and a lifting height of 21 meters. The equipment integrates advanced technologies including a bowling-pin prevention system, a "vision plus laser" dual-fusion intelligent anti-collision system for the gantry, automatic deviation correction for precise positioning, and fully automated container latching. Furthermore, the use of water-based shop primer in their construction promotes both energy conservation, emission reduction, and operational safety, empowering the port's low-carbon development through green manufacturing.

As a landmark project for the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta, the Xiaoyangshan North Operations Area serves as a core component of Shanghai's efforts to build an international shipping center. With a designed annual throughput capacity of 11.6 million twenty-foot equivalent units, the new area will, upon completion, form a combined port with the southern terminal, creating a "north-south coordination, trunk-and-branch linkage" model. This collaboration is set to establish a globally leading, intelligent, and green hub port area.
