Authorities have reported the emergence of a new blockage threat in the wake of ongoing flood relief operations. The Ministry of Emergency Management has deployed surveillance and heavy-lift drones from the "Rain Swallow Emergency" unit to continuously monitor the evolving situation at the Pure Pug Qiangzang barrier lake.
On the evening of August 29th, forward surveillance drones detected a landslide occurring 2.8 kilometers downstream of the original blockage point. This new slide has created a fresh barrier, which is now in the process of forming another lake, posing an additional risk to the area.
Following the detection, the ministry promptly convened a team of experts to evaluate the changing conditions. In a precautionary measure, all rescue and disaster-relief personnel stationed near the Gyirong Port have been swiftly relocated to secure positions to ensure their safety.
