U.S. President Trump stated that "Eli Lilly has always been excellent" and hinted that the White House will reach more agreements with other pharmaceutical companies in the future.

Trump said at the White House: "They will all come next week, and we are negotiating deals with all of them."

Eli Lilly shares rose 2.7% to intraday highs.

Earlier, Pfizer announced an agreement with Trump to broadly reduce drug prices in the United States.
