In a frantic rush as the year-end approached, Ms. Li, an HR professional at a company in the Suzhou Industrial Park, made a critical oversight during a transaction, mistakenly transferring 690,000 yuan of company funds to a former tenant from Yunnan with whom she had previous rental dealings.

Initially agreeing to return the money, the recipient unexpectedly changed their stance, prompting Ms. Li to contact her bank to request a freeze on the account, only to be informed that the bank could not unilaterally freeze another individual's account.

"The manager told me that the recipient could withdraw 5,000 yuan at a time, or even adjust the limit with their ID card and withdraw the full amount. The money was still there temporarily, but the risk was immense; I was terrified they might transfer it away at any moment," she recounted.

With no other options left, she sought help from the police. The Suzhou Public Security Bureau immediately initiated emergency measures, implementing temporary risk controls on the involved account to block the funds from being moved.

Ultimately, Ms. Li traveled to Yunnan and, under the supervision of local police, successfully recovered the full amount, turning a potential career-ending year-end blunder into a narrowly averted disaster.

"After receiving the notification that the funds had been returned to our account, I crouched in the police station corridor and wept uncontrollably," Ms. Li said. "It was the first time in my life I had cried over money, yet it was also the most relieved I have ever felt."

Ms. Li reflected, "My heart, which had been suspended in anxiety for two days, finally settled, and I felt an immense weight lift from my entire being."

Following the incident, Ms. Li presented a banner of gratitude and a handwritten letter to the Xietang Police Station to express her heartfelt thanks.
