Gold's Pullback Presents Buying Opportunities, Analyst Says

Deep News
08/17

Gold prices have been consolidating within a range for an extended period this month, finally breaking higher to reach a significant peak of 4450 before undergoing a correction. Late last week, the metal found support around the 4310 area and rebounded to encounter resistance near the 4400 level, leading to a period of consolidation. This morning, prices saw a sharp early rally to 4416 before pulling back again. The overarching trend remains bullish, with the market viewed as oscillating higher overall, making pullbacks in gold an opportunity to buy on dips.

From the current chart perspective, gold opened slightly lower this morning, dipping to 4366 before quickly reversing and moving higher. The early-week market sentiment is notably bullish. The early morning low of 4366 serves as a key pivot point for today; as long as it holds, the focus is on the upward momentum. The critical level to watch is whether the 4416 high can be breached during the European session. If European trading pushes above 4416, a pullback in the US session would still present a buying opportunity.

The trading strategy for today can be approached in two ways. A conservative approach involves locking in profits by trading within the broad 4310-4450 range. As long as the range remains unbroken, one can buy on dips and sell on rallies for quick, short-term gains. A breakout on either side would then allow for a trend-following position. A more aggressive approach is to look for buying opportunities on a pullback in the afternoon, provided prices hold above the 4366 level. If the European session breaks above 4416, there will be additional buying opportunities on any subsequent retracement.
