In a recent move to combat the illegal installation and use of signal jammers and uphold airwave order, the Sichuan Provincial Department of Economy and Information Technology, in collaboration with the Chengdu Municipal Bureau of Economy and Information Technology, carried out a targeted operation. The initiative focused on garages storing mortgaged vehicles where illegal signal jammers were being used. A total of five cases involving unauthorized signal jammers were investigated, resulting in the removal of 36 sets of such equipment in accordance with the law.

During the operation, the Chengdu Municipal Bureau of Economy and Information Technology leveraged its technical expertise, deploying mobile monitoring vehicles and portable detection devices to overcome challenges such as enclosed garage environments and severe signal obstruction. This enabled the rapid identification of the illegal jamming devices. Investigations revealed that the equipment in question lacked the required radio transmission device type approval codes. The unauthorized use of these devices caused harmful interference to nearby public mobile communication base stations and signals from the global navigation satellite system (GNSS).

On-site law enforcement personnel provided detailed explanations of relevant radio management laws and regulations to the individuals responsible for the garages involved, clearly outlining the potential hazards of illegally installing and using signal jammers and the corresponding legal liabilities. In accordance with the Regulations of the People's Republic of China on Radio Management, officials issued rectification notices ordering the immediate cessation of use and dismantling of the illegal equipment. The responsible parties cooperated fully and promptly removed the unauthorized devices. The cases are currently under further processing.
