Samsung Electronics announced on Tuesday that its subsidiary Harman International has agreed to acquire the Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) business of German automotive parts supplier ZF Friedrichshafen AG for €1.5 billion (approximately $1.77 billion).

The acquisition will provide Harman with ADAS-related technologies and products, including in-vehicle front-view cameras and ADAS controllers, marking its full entry into the rapidly growing ADAS market.

ADAS technology utilizes cameras and sensors to detect lane markings, vehicle distances, pedestrians, and other environmental conditions to assist in safe driving.

Samsung noted that the ADAS and in-vehicle central controller market is projected to grow from KRW 62.6 trillion (about $421.8 billion) in 2025 to KRW 97.4 trillion by 2030.

This deal marks another major acquisition by Samsung Electronics this year. In May, the company announced a €1.5 billion purchase of German cooling system manufacturer Viessmann Group.

Samsung stated that the transaction is expected to be completed by 2026.
