On March 1 local time, it was reported that Iran announced the election of Alireza Arafi as the jurist selected by the Guardian Council.
According to Iran’s constitution, in the event of the death, resignation, or removal of the Supreme Leader, the Assembly of Experts must act promptly to designate and appoint a new Supreme Leader. Until a new Supreme Leader is appointed, a committee consisting of the President, the head of the judiciary, and a jurist selected by the Guardian Council will temporarily perform the duties of the Supreme Leader.
