In a recent internal address on May 27, JD.com's Richard Liu emphasized the imperative to exhaust all means to safeguard the jobs of hundreds of thousands of employees. He committed that JD.com would not lay off any frontline staff displaced by machinery. Reflecting on the hardships faced by delivery personnel, Liu remarked, "Our brothers are having a tough time now, out on the streets in all weather, enduring hardship and exhaustion. Even though we provide them with the industry's best compensation and benefits, from my perspective, their work remains arduous and far from enjoyable." In response to the challenges posed by automation, JD.com has officially launched the "Nirvana Project," aimed at minimizing the impact of new technologies on blue-collar workers and their families. Liu disclosed that JD.com has established over 80 robotics bases nationwide, focusing on training blue-collar workers in emerging skills such as robot maintenance and servicing.
