UAE's Key Gas Processing Plant Reportedly Resumes Operations, LNG Output Remains Minimal

According to an informed source, the UAE has resumed operations at its largest natural gas processing facility. An attack last week had temporarily forced the shutdown of this plant, which is vital for meeting the majority of the country's natural gas demand.

The source, who requested anonymity due to the sensitivity of the information, also noted that the UAE's sole operational liquefied natural gas (LNG) production facility—located on Das Island in the Persian Gulf—is currently running at very low capacity. This is due to the inability to export through the Strait of Hormuz. The source stated that the facility, which has an annual capacity of 6 million tons, has not been completely shut down so that it can restart quickly once the Strait reopens. The specific current operational level of the plant was not disclosed.

The source indicated that the resumption of the Habshan facility, along with supplies from Qatar delivered via the Dolphin pipeline, is meeting the needs of the UAE's domestic natural gas network.
