At approximately 10:30 AM on August 26, a suspected avalanche in the Donglin Zangbo River basin of Gyirong County, Shigatse, Tibet, triggered a major chain of disasters on the Nepalese side, potentially resulting in significant casualties.

In response, the Ministry of Natural Resources activated a Level II emergency response for geological disasters at 3:00 PM on the same day, dispatching a working group to the site to provide guidance on rescue operations and the prevention of secondary geological hazards.

The Ministry has instructed the Department of Natural Resources of the Tibet Autonomous Region to immediately dispatch an expert working group to the scene, assisting local authorities with technical support during search and rescue efforts, while also conducting thorough inspections, monitoring, and early warning measures for similar geological risks. Additionally, the China Geological Survey and the Geological Disaster Technical Guidance Center of the Ministry of Natural Resources have been tasked with strengthening expert coordination, organizational efforts, and consultation to ensure comprehensive technical support.
