A new K-9 school project in Kunming's Xishan District has officially entered its preliminary construction phase, following the release of a public tender for its design and construction.

The Kunming Municipal Education and Sports Bureau recently issued the public bidding announcement for the design and construction (EPC) general contract of the first-phase new K-9 school project in the No. 1 Chunyu Road area of Xishan District, marking the formal commencement of the project's initial construction work.

Previously, in response to public inquiries, the Xishan District Education and Sports Bureau indicated that preparatory work for subsequent project approvals and filings is proceeding in an orderly manner. According to the project timeline, the school is scheduled to be completed and operational before September 2027.

The tender announcement specifies that the project is located on plots XS-BZ-F-01-02 and XS-BZ-F-03-01 in the Chunyu Road No. 1 area, Majie Subdistrict, Xishan District, adjacent to the Dahua Jinxiu Shanhai development. The total land area for the project is 31,421.56 square meters, with a total floor area of 32,926.55 square meters. This includes 26,007.44 square meters of above-ground space and 6,919.11 square meters of underground space.

On June 8th, the Xishan District Education and Sports Bureau provided an update on the school's development in response to a public inquiry on the People's Daily Online "Leadership Message Board". The response clarified two key points after verification. Firstly, regarding the introduction of a prestigious school, there is an intention to partner with the Kunming No.1 High School Affiliated Shanhai Experimental School for the operation of the new K-9 school in the first phase of the Chunyu Road No. 1 area, and the approval process for this partnership is currently underway. Secondly, concerning the construction of supporting educational facilities for the area, the plan includes building a 33-class K-9 school, comprising 18 primary school classes and 15 junior high school classes.

To date, the project has successfully obtained core preliminary approvals, including the project establishment approval, land pre-approval and site selection opinion, and planning conditions. The Xishan District Education and Sports Bureau is currently advancing the subsequent approval and filing preparations in a systematic manner.
