Thermo Fisher Scientific (TMO) shares surged 8.97% in pre-market trading on Thursday, following the release of second-quarter results that handily beat Wall Street expectations and an upward revision to the company's full-year 2026 outlook.

The life sciences giant reported adjusted earnings per share of $6.03, well above the analyst consensus estimate of $5.71. Revenue climbed 10% year-over-year to $11.99 billion, also exceeding the $11.70 billion forecast. The strong performance was fueled by improving customer demand across all business segments, with the laboratory products and biopharma services unit posting a near 12% revenue increase to $6.69 billion and the life-sciences solutions segment growing approximately 13% to $2.82 billion.

Management further boosted investor confidence by raising its 2026 revenue guidance to a range of $47.4 billion to $48.1 billion and lifting its adjusted EPS forecast to $24.93-$25.33. The company also projected third-quarter adjusted EPS to be 35 to 40 cents higher than the second-quarter figure, signaling sustained momentum. The earnings beat and upbeat guidance helped the stock recover from a sector-wide selloff earlier in the week, when peer Danaher's weaker outlook had dragged down life sciences tool makers.
