Stock Track | American Airlines Soars 6% in Pre-Market as Oil Prices Slide, Card Benefits Refresh

American Airlines shares surged 6.02% in pre-market trading on Monday, significantly outperforming peers as a combination of sliding oil prices and enhanced co-branded credit card benefits boosted investor sentiment.

The rally was primarily fueled by a sharp decline in crude oil prices, which fell over 5% after U.S. President Donald Trump halted a planned attack on Iran and sought a diplomatic deal to end Tehran's nuclear ambitions and reopen the Strait of Hormuz. As fuel is one of the largest operating expenses for airlines, the drop in oil prices directly improves cost outlooks and profitability prospects for carriers.

Adding to the positive momentum, American Airlines and Citigroup announced a refresh of the Citi/AAdvantage Executive World Legend Mastercard, introducing new premium travel benefits, higher earning rates, and faster progress toward AAdvantage status. The updated card, which remains the only product to include Admirals Club membership, targets frequent American Airlines flyers and is expected to strengthen loyalty program revenue, providing a company-specific catalyst for the stock's outperformance.
