Toyo Engineering has signed a memorandum of understanding with OneSubsea to explore collaboration on subsea carbon capture and storage projects.

The agreement aims to integrate the capabilities of both companies to develop integrated system solutions for subsea CCS, with an initial focus on projects in Japan and Southeast Asia.

The two companies stated that the partnership will explore opportunities in areas such as system design optimization and market strategies for offshore carbon dioxide transportation, injection, and storage.

Toyo Engineering indicated it will contribute its expertise in CCS project development and onshore facility engineering, while OneSubsea—a joint venture formed by SLB, Aker Solutions, and Subsea7—will provide subsea technology and processing systems.

The companies noted that subsea CCS projects face technical challenges, including the safe transportation and injection of carbon dioxide, as well as long-term operation and maintenance, particularly for large-scale offshore storage developments.
