The Direxion Daily MU Bull 2X Shares (MUU), a leveraged exchange-traded fund designed to deliver twice the daily performance of Micron Technology Inc., experienced a sharp decline of 7.02% during intraday trading on Friday.

The significant drop is attributed to renewed investor concerns over potential long-term overcapacity in the global memory chip market. This sentiment follows announcements from all three major memory giants—Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron itself—of massive capital expansion plans. Samsung and SK Hynix have collectively committed up to $880 billion, while Micron has announced plans to invest over $250 billion in the U.S. through 2035. The sheer scale of these investments has sparked fears that new supply coming online could significantly outstrip demand, negatively impacting future pricing and profitability for industry players like Micron.

Adding to the supply concerns, specific reports indicate SK Hynix is resuming the second-phase expansion of its Dalian factory in China, targeting a new production line by 2026. As a 2x leveraged product, the MUU ETF's price movements are amplified relative to the underlying stock's performance, making it particularly sensitive to such sector-wide fears of a supply glut.
