Good news for travelers: domestic fuel prices in China are projected to decrease substantially ahead of the May Day holiday, potentially lowering the cost of self-driving trips. According to the standard 10-working-day adjustment cycle for domestic refined oil prices, the next price adjustment window will open at 24:00 on April 21. Data from JLC estimates that as of April 16, the seventh working day of the current adjustment cycle, WTI crude oil prices had fallen to $91.41 per barrel, while Brent crude dropped to $92.08 per barrel. This corresponds to an expected reduction of 580 yuan per ton in domestic gasoline and diesel retail prices. When converted, this translates to a decrease of approximately 0.44 to 0.52 yuan per liter. The final extent of the reduction will depend on the performance of international oil prices over the remaining working days. So far this year, domestic refined oil prices have experienced six consecutive increases. The final adjustment will be officially announced by the National Development and Reform Commission.
