According to recent announcements from the Ministry of Transport, during the 15th Five-Year Plan period, China will fully connect three national highways—G219, G331, and G228—forming a sprawling 'Golden Outer Ring' exceeding 26,000 kilometers in total length. The initiative will focus on upgrading and constructing approximately 7,400 kilometers of roadway over the next five years.

Key development priorities include tackling challenging segments such as the Zhaosu-Wensu section of G219 and the Quanzhou Baicui crossing on G228, both of which require significant engineering feats to traverse mountains and seas. These efforts will be complemented by the creation of premium self-driving tourism corridors along the border and coastal regions.
