China Central Television has spotlighted a recall of two power bank models from Guangdong Pisen Electronics Co., Ltd, citing potential fire hazards, prompting widespread consumer concern. The affected models, TP-D114 and TP-D133, have been under recall since September 8 due to identified safety risks.

The recall stems from multiple underlying issues, including defective battery cell sourcing, inadequate protection circuit design, and flaws in the manufacturing process. Under extreme conditions such as prolonged charging and discharging cycles, exposure to high temperatures, or physical stress from drops or compression, these power banks may exhibit overheating, thermal burns, or swelling, with the potential for combustion in severe cases.

In response to the situation, the official Pisen flagship store has confirmed the recall and advised customers who purchased the affected models to reach out via their purchase account for further assistance. However, a customer service representative clarified that the products currently on sale are not part of the recall scope, aiming to reassure buyers of the safety of the latest inventory.

This development underscores the importance of regulatory oversight in consumer electronics, particularly for products involving lithium batteries, where safety cannot be compromised. Consumers who own the TP-D114 or TP-D133 are urged to verify their product status and act promptly to ensure their safety.
