During the recent Spring Festival holiday, the use of new energy vehicles for travel surged to unprecedented levels. According to a report from state media on February 24, data released by the National Energy Administration revealed that an analysis of 53,300 highway charging piles monitored by the national charging facility service platform showed a total of 6.021 million charging sessions for electric vehicles on highways from the 28th day of the twelfth lunar month (February 15) to the seventh day of the first lunar month (February 23). The total charging volume reached 149.7675 million kilowatt-hours, with a daily average of 16.6408 million kilowatt-hours, marking a 52.01% increase compared to the daily average during last year's Spring Festival holiday and setting a new historical record. Additionally, data from the State Taxation Administration indicated that revenue from vehicle charging services during the holiday period surged by 163.9% year-on-year.
The rental car market also experienced significant growth over the holiday. Key platforms reported a 51% increase in car rental orders, with rentals for 7-day and 8-day periods growing by 95% and 73% respectively. Orders for cross-regional travel between northern and southern China surged by 251%, highlighting new trends in holiday service consumption and robust demand for family long-distance trips.
In corporate developments, Changan Automobile announced on February 24 that its solid-state battery project is progressing as planned. The company expects to complete the installation and validation of its "Golden Bell Cover" solid-state battery in robots and vehicles before the third quarter of this year, a key step toward commercial mass production.
Separately, LEAPMOTOR Co., Ltd. recently underwent a business registration change, increasing its registered capital from 4.708 billion yuan to 5.558 billion yuan, an increase of 18%. Zhu Jiangming transitioned from executive director to director, and several other senior executives were also changed. The company, established in 2017, is wholly owned by LEAPMOTOR.
