At the 18th Xuanyue Automotive Bluebook Forum held in Guangzhou from May 15th to 17th, Wang Tan, General Manager of the Styling Center at XPeng Inc., delivered a speech. The forum's theme was "The Turning Point."

Wang Tan stated that electrification and intelligence are fundamentally reshaping the vehicle's "skeletal structure" and "exterior form." He believes the current "turning point" in automotive design is not a simple iteration but a comprehensive revolution, with electrification and intelligence serving as its core drivers.

He noted that intelligence has a similarly profound impact on design. However, Wang Tan emphasized that design operates in cycles; while pursuing ultimate voice interaction, retaining some efficient and intuitive physical buttons remains a necessary supplementary form of interaction.

Furthermore, the rapid iteration of advanced driver-assistance systems is redefining interior space. As autonomous driving capabilities improve, vehicles are evolving into a "third space" beyond the home and office. Once the driver's hands and eyes are freed, the functionality, layout, and interactive experience within the cabin will undergo transformative changes.

Wang Tan expressed that electrification has altered the vehicle's physical architecture, while intelligence has reconstructed the interaction logic between humans and vehicles. The convergence of these two forces is driving automotive design to evolve from traditional styling aesthetics into a "new species" characterized by the deep integration of technology and art.
