China Southern Airlines Reports 13.76% Increase in March Passenger Traffic

China Southern Airlines (01055) announced that in March 2026, the group's passenger capacity, measured in available seat kilometers, increased by 12.36% year-on-year. Domestic, regional, and international routes saw rises of 11.11%, 8.02%, and 15.98%, respectively. Passenger traffic, measured in revenue passenger kilometers, grew by 13.76% compared to the same period last year, with domestic, regional, and international routes increasing by 10.57%, 17.47%, and 22.72%, respectively. The passenger load factor reached 85.78%, up 1.05 percentage points year-on-year. Domestic routes experienced a slight decline of 0.41 percentage points, while regional and international routes rose by 6.60 and 4.83 percentage points, respectively.

In cargo operations, freight capacity, measured in available tonne kilometers for cargo and mail, increased by 3.79% in March 2026. Cargo and mail traffic, measured in revenue tonne kilometers, rose by 2.77% year-on-year. The cargo load factor stood at 54.03%, down 0.54 percentage points compared to the same period last year.

During March 2026, the group launched several new routes, including Beijing Daxing–Helsinki–Beijing Daxing (three flights per week), Guangzhou–Bishkek–Guangzhou (two flights per week), Guangzhou–Harbin–Vladivostok–Harbin–Guangzhou (three flights per week), Guangzhou–Chongqing–Yining–Chongqing–Guangzhou (four flights per week), and Guangzhou–Chongqing–Korla–Chongqing–Guangzhou (three flights per week).

The group also added two aircraft to its fleet in March 2026, comprising one C919 and one B737-8. As of the end of March 2026, China Southern Airlines operated a total of 971 transport aircraft.
