Heilongjiang has drawn a surge of domestic and international tourists this summer, leveraging its pleasant climate, diverse large-scale events, and unique cultural tourism resources. Attractions like the Harbin Summer Music Season, the Harbin International Beer Festival, the Sun Island Film Week, and Northeast events have all contributed to the influx.
The Heilongjiang Airport Group reported on August 6 that from July 1 to 31, it handled 19,693 aircraft takeoffs and landings and transported 2.825 million passengers, marking year-on-year increases of 5.9% and 6.3%, respectively, setting a new historical record for the summer travel period.
Harbin, recognized as one of China's top ten summer resorts, offers more than just greenery and cool temperatures; it also provides a surprise of ice and snow. The Ice and Snow World Dream Ice and Snow Pavilion maintains sub-zero temperatures year-round, using real ice and snow to create a dreamlike space, allowing visitors to experience the charm of winter in the midst of summer. From July 1 to 31, Harbin Airport handled 15,661 aircraft takeoffs and landings and transported 2.385 million passengers, year-on-year increases of 4.8% and 5.9%, respectively, both setting new summer travel records. Peak daily operations reached 545 flights and 84,900 passengers, both new highs for the summer period, showcasing the strong recovery momentum of Harbin's aviation market and cultural tourism consumption potential.
During the summer season, international and regional routes have steadily expanded. In addition to maintaining stable operations on routes to destinations such as Vladivostok, Irkutsk, Khabarovsk, Yakutsk, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, Krasnoyarsk, Blagoveshchensk, and Yekaterinburg in Russia, as well as Tokyo, Seoul, and Singapore, flights to Khabarovsk have been increased, offering travelers more outbound travel options. With the continuous expansion of the visa-free "circle of friends," cross-border passenger traffic has risen steadily. Midway through the summer travel season, Harbin Airport had handled 631 international and regional passenger flights, transporting 62,700 passengers.
