China's August Industrial Producer Purchase Prices Rose 5.8% Year-on-Year, 0.3% Month-on-Month

Data released on September 9 shows that China's industrial producer purchase prices increased by 5.8% year-on-year in August, with a monthly rise of 0.3%.

Looking at the average for the first eight months of the year, industrial producer purchase prices climbed 3.2% compared to the same period last year.

In August, among the categories tracked for industrial producer purchase prices, non-ferrous metal materials and wire products saw a notable 19.8% year-on-year increase. Fuel and power costs rose 9.8%, while chemical raw materials were up 9.5%. Textile raw materials gained 3.8%, and ferrous metal materials edged up 0.3%. Conversely, building materials and non-metallic minerals declined by 3.2%, and agricultural by-products fell 0.5%.

On a month-on-month basis in August, fuel and power prices rose 1.4%, non-ferrous metal materials and wire products increased 0.8%, and textile raw materials were up 0.6%. Meanwhile, ferrous metal materials dropped 0.6%, and chemical raw materials decreased 0.4%. Prices for agricultural by-products, as well as building materials and non-metallic minerals, remained flat from the previous month.
