A local government in Ganzhou, Jiangxi province, has launched an investigation into online claims that a young woman's trip to Hong Kong for a concert led to the cancellation of her family's subsistence allowance benefits.

According to a statement released on Saturday by the Social Affairs Bureau of the Ganzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone, authorities have formed a special task force and initiated a comprehensive review of the situation. The statement explains that the woman in question, identified as a local resident surnamed Huang, triggered an alert within the dynamic monitoring system for benefit recipients when she traveled to Hong Kong on her own for a performance.

Community officials subsequently contacted her to explain relevant policies and issue a reminder regarding the regulations. The statement notes that it was her family members who, fearing the potential loss of their benefit status, took to the internet to post about their situation in hopes of seeking assistance.

The bureau has confirmed that it is currently verifying the information posted online as well as the family's overall circumstances. Any actions taken will be handled in accordance with relevant laws and regulations, based on the findings of the ongoing investigation.
