The 2026 Gansu Province Million Workers Labor and Skills Competition for Engineering Surveying, themed "Mapping the World with Intelligence, Surveying the Future with Precision," concluded today in Pingliang City. Over 100 competitors from 34 provincial teams showcased their surveying expertise in a three-day contest that highlighted the professional excellence of talent in the geographic information sector.
The event was co-hosted by the Provincial Department of Natural Resources and the Provincial Federation of Trade Unions, with organization led by the Provincial Natural Resources System Trade Union and the Provincial Natural Resources Industry Vocational Skills Appraisal and Guidance Center. Designed around real-world engineering surveying scenarios, the competition integrated theoretical assessments with practical operations, requiring participants to pass both components to qualify for awards.
This year's event prioritized a comprehensive evaluation of competitors' professional skills, serving as a platform for on-the-job training, talent identification, and the cultivation of highly skilled industry professionals. After intense competition, all awards were finalized: the Lanzhou Fifth Representative Team and five other teams received group honors, while ten individuals, including Ma Wanjun, earned personal awards. Additionally, five outstanding competitor awards were presented, and five units, including the Pingliang Municipal Bureau of Natural Resources, were recognized with excellent organization awards.
The competition served as a centralized review of the province's surveying and geographic information skilled workforce and a concrete implementation of the principle "promoting learning through competition, training through competition, practice through competition, and development through competition." By empowering participants through this competitive platform, the event aims to further stimulate enthusiasm for professional development and skill enhancement among practitioners, contributing to the cultivation of a knowledgeable, skilled, and innovative surveying workforce.
