During Friday morning trading, shares of Capital One Financial (COF), a diversified financial services company, declined modestly following the company's announcement of plans to lay off 215 employees at former Discover Financial Services offices as it gradually winds down Discover's mortgage lending operations.
The layoffs are scheduled to be implemented by October 17, with remaining positions to be terminated by May 2026.
Capital One completed its acquisition of Discover Financial Services in mid-May 2025.
