Cross-Border Travelers at China-Myanmar's Ruili Port Surpass 2 Million This Year

The Ruili Entry-Exit Border Inspection Station reported on the 26th that as of midnight that day, the number of cross-border travelers passing through the Ruili Port on the China-Myanmar border this year has exceeded 2 million, achieving this figure 11 days earlier than in 2025. Since the beginning of this year, the port has handled an average of over 13,000 travelers per day, with a single-day peak of 15,000.

Located in Ruili City, Dehong Dai and Jingpo Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province, the Ruili Port is adjacent to Myanmar's national port of Muse. It serves as the largest land port for China-Myanmar trade, handling over 70% of Yunnan-Myanmar trade and approximately 30% of China-Myanmar trade.

This year, the majority of cross-border travelers at the Ruili Port are engaged in cross-border trade, visiting relatives and friends, or tourism, with Myanmar nationals accounting for over 96% of the total.

In response to the sustained growth in cross-border passenger flow, the Ruili Border Inspection Station has integrated technologies such as AR real-time map monitoring and facial recognition assistance systems to create a comprehensive clearance system. Additionally, in collaboration with port authorities, the station has implemented a flexible duty model, reducing the average waiting time for travelers by more than 30%.
