Recently, No. 812 Julu Road in Jing'an District has transformed into a testing ground for youthful energy—the "Lab812 Youth Hub" officially commenced operations. On the opening day, a series of innovative initiatives focusing on youth development and brand cultivation were unveiled: the "Youth Innovation Charging Station" empowerment plan was launched, providing systematic support for young entrepreneurs; the Jing'an Youth Economy podcast "China's Best Business" debuted on the Xiaoyuzhou APP, amplifying youth dialogues from offline spaces to broader communities; and a hundred copies of the "Shop Bright Youth, Benefit Trendy Play" guidebook for the Julu-Fumin-Changle (JFC) youth economy were distributed, encouraging young people to explore unique shops in the vibrant district.
Simultaneously, the flagship youth economy store's inaugural exhibition, "From Jing'an to Cambridge—A Tale of Chinese Silk," made its public debut, initiating a cross-temporal cultural dialogue. Co-created by the Jing'an District Youth League Committee and Jing'an Temple Subdistrict, this youth space aligns with the Shanghai Youth League Committee's strategic deployment for the youth economy. Deeply integrating the cultural heritage of the JFC district, it aims to establish a high-content, highly interactive youth cultural lab, serving as a flagship platform to drive youth economic development in Jing'an.
The same day saw the launch of the "Igniting Youth Power, Sparking Consumption—Jing'an Youth Economy Special" event at Jing'an CP Shopping Mall. Key initiatives included the "Youth Innovation Charging Station" empowerment plan, which will leverage the Jing'an JFC Youth Economy Guidance and Promotion Committee to implement four core actions: ideological leadership, service empowerment, district co-creation, and role model recognition, systematically supporting young entrepreneurs.
A themed bus transported attendees from the main venue to Lab812, where guests experienced firsthand the vitality and creativity of this "flagship youth economy store." The project's address, "812," coinciding with International Youth Day, naturally embeds it with youth cultural DNA. Its vision is to become Shanghai's "content hub, community connector, and cultural lab" for the youth economy.
Lab812 exemplifies Jing'an's "space-district-commercial" tri-level development model, creating a non-commercial, content-and-community-driven high-energy youth space. Currently, it focuses on core themes like "Youth Cultural Content Lab," "Online Community Co-Creation Plan," and "Youth Brand Showcases," producing high-quality content through initiatives like youth editor programs, district memory archives, cultural salons, and brand storytelling theaters.
As a central node, Lab812 connects surrounding businesses and commercial resources, positioning the JFC district as a model for Shanghai's youth economy and establishing a replicable youth space operation model. Moving forward, it will emphasize youth culture and district renewal, offering young creators a stage to showcase talent and realize dreams while fostering a virtuous cycle of "interaction, youth consumption, and urban development." This aims to make youth energy a driving force for Jing'an's prosperity and innovation, solidifying its appeal as a dream-fulfillment destination for young people.
