US President Trump has stated that Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent will not become his head of artificial intelligence (AI) affairs.

In a post on Truth Social on Friday, Trump said: "First, he himself doesn't want to do it. Second, he is doing an outstanding job at the Treasury, and I want him to stay there!"

Bessent had previously said, when asked whether he would serve as Trump's AI affairs head, that he would continue to take part in the government's AI work, but that "I think there is only one AI head, and that is President Trump."
