Precision health company CancerIQ has announced the addition of the geneType™ cancer risk assessment test from Rhythm Biosciences to its network of diagnostic tools.

Effective immediately, the more than 60 healthcare systems covered by the CancerIQ platform can now order this test directly for patients through their existing workflows.

The geneType™ tool is a comprehensive assessment that integrates polygenic risk scores, clinical risk factors, and family history to provide 5-year and lifetime risk estimates for various cancers, including breast, prostate, colorectal, ovarian, and melanoma.

Unlike traditional models that rely solely on family history or single-gene testing, geneType™ incorporates multi-dimensional data, helping to identify individuals at elevated risk who may not have a clear genetic mutation, thereby providing a basis for personalized screening plans.

CancerIQ CEO and Co-Founder Feyi Ayodele stated, "We are excited to partner with Rhythm Biosciences to offer the geneType™ test through the CancerIQ platform. This expands the diagnostic tool options on the platform and enhances clinician awareness at the point of decision."

For patients who have undergone hereditary cancer testing but whose risk remains incompletely explained, the geneType™ test offers further risk stratification. The test can be completed using a saliva sample, with results interpreted by clinicians in conjunction with genetic counselors to ensure comprehensive medical oversight.

Rhythm Biosciences CEO and Managing Director Dr. David Atkins noted that CancerIQ has built the clinical infrastructure to connect the right patient with the right tool at the right time. Through this collaboration, Rhythm Biosciences gains rapid access to a network of major U.S. healthcare systems, bypassing the lengthy process of building a direct sales team.

This partnership builds on a previously signed strategic agreement between the two companies, aiming to create a clear, recurring testing revenue pathway for geneType™.

Australian firm Rhythm Biosciences focuses on developing predictive cancer diagnostic technologies. Its geneType™ platform has received multiple independent validations. A recent study published in the journal Cancer Prevention Research confirmed the stability of its ovarian cancer risk model in the Harvard Nurses' Health Study cohort, which identified twice as many women at elevated risk compared to a purely clinical model.

The geneType™ test requires a prescription from a licensed physician and is being progressively integrated into the U.S. value-based preventive healthcare system.
