ZTE’s March-released 2025 Sustainability Report outlines measurable progress toward its “Green Digital Path” strategy and confirms formal approval of both its near-term 1.5 °C and 2050 net-zero targets by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).

• Decarbonisation Progress – Scope 1 & 2 emissions fell 46 % versus the 2021 base year; total operational emissions reached 434,200 tCO₂e. – Scope 3 improvements include an 8.55 % drop in use-phase intensity for telecom products and a 3.05 % absolute reduction across the full life-cycle of terminal products. – Self-generated solar power rose to 39.22 million kWh and the firm acquired 33,700 green certificates covering 33.69 million kWh. – Recycling and compliant reuse covered 78.20 % of returned telecom products.

• Supply-Chain Risk & ESG Management – 93.68 % of suppliers have signed the CSR agreement; 100 % underwent CSR assessments and 87.14 % of major suppliers received onsite ESG audits. – ZTE audited 270 suppliers in 2025 and trained more than 450 supplier representatives on CSR and cybersecurity. – The company’s “SPIRE 2.0” programme underpins an anti-fragile, digitally enabled supply chain; two thirds of its production now uses electric forklifts and recycled pallets.

• Innovation & R&D – R&D spend equalled 17.0 % of revenue; patent activity reached 2,000 new filings and over 5,000 grants in 2025, lifting ZTE’s global portfolio beyond 50,000 active patents. – ISO 37001 anti-bribery and ISO 28000 supply-chain security certifications were maintained, while all applicable product series passed EU RED cybersecurity certification.

• Workforce & Safety – Employee headcount totalled 65,095 (24 % female) with a 9.4 % turnover rate. – Training coverage hit 100 %, averaging 123.45 hours per employee; 73.5 % of senior experts delivered internal lectures. – Zero work-related fatalities were recorded and no government penalties or shutdowns were issued for health-and-safety issues.

• Social Investment & Community Impact – Public-welfare expenditure reached CNY35.37 million, spanning 89 projects in more than 15 countries and directly benefiting over 100,000 people. – Volunteer engagement exceeded 20,000 registered employees who contributed 13,139.5 service hours.

• Governance Highlights – ZTE maintained an “A” disclosure rating from Shenzhen Stock Exchange and retained a CDP “A List” score for the third consecutive year. – The Board‐level Strategy & Sustainability Committee oversees ESG with performance-linked incentives tied to dual-carbon targets for senior executives.

With Scope 1 & 2 emissions already nearly halfway to its 52 % reduction target for 2030, ZTE plans to accelerate renewable procurement, expand liquid-cooling data-centre deployments and deepen supplier carbon-footprint accounting—covering over 50 % of procurement spend in 2025—to stay on course for its 2050 net-zero commitment.
