According to incomplete statistics from TrendForce, domestic energy storage procurement reached 54.4 GWh in July 2026, showing a slight decline from the prior month. Meanwhile, awarded projects totaled 29.88 GWh, driven by demand from large-scale renewable energy bases. The average price for a 2-hour system came in at 0.56 RMB/Wh, while EPC prices edged up.

July Procurement Volume Hits 54.4 GWh

TrendForce data shows that new domestic energy storage procurement in July 2026 reached 15.97 GW/54.4 GWh, representing year-on-year growth of 46% and 54%, respectively. Month-on-month, these figures fell by 9% and 32%. New EPC project procurement amounted to 13.71 GW/39.98 GWh, declining 8% and 4% month-on-month. Provinces including Shanxi, Xinjiang, and Inner Mongolia saw strong performance, each exceeding 4 GWh in monthly procurement volume. New energy storage system procurement totaled 2.26 GW/14.42 GWh, dropping 14% and 63% month-on-month, mainly due to a reduction in the scale of centralized and framework procurement projects this month.

Independent Storage Dominates with 80% Share

By procurement type, independent storage accounted for 14.45 GW/44.11 GWh, with 10 GWh-level projects primarily located in Inner Mongolia, Xinjiang, Hebei, and Shanxi. Framework and centralized procurement projects saw 0.6 GW/9.38 GWh, representing 17% of the total. Renewable energy co-located storage accounted for 2%, with wind and solar co-location being the main contributors. Commercial and industrial storage made up just 1%.

July Awarded Projects Reach 29.88 GWh

TrendForce data indicates that new domestic energy storage awards in July 2026 totaled 12.23 GW/29.88 GWh, down 19% and 33% month-on-month. The sustained push from large-scale renewable energy bases is driving the release of demand for renewable energy co-located storage. New EPC project awards reached 10.77 GW/26.47 GWh, declining 8% and 24% month-on-month, with Shanxi leading at 5.97 GWh. New storage system awards totaled 1.46 GW/3.41 GWh, plunging 55% and 64% month-on-month, with two major photovoltaic projects from the Zhejiang Energy Group's Tengger Desert Hexi Renewable Energy Base contributing more than half of the increase.

2-Hour System Average Price at 0.56 RMB/Wh

In July 2026, storage system bid prices fell slightly while overall EPC prices rose. The bid price range for 2-hour energy storage systems was 0.53-1.04 RMB/Wh, with a weighted average price of 0.56 RMB/Wh, down 2% month-on-month. The weighted average price for 4-hour systems was 0.5 RMB/Wh, a 6% decline month-on-month (data is for reference only as only one valid quote was recorded).

The bid price range for 2-hour energy storage EPC was 0.61-1.48 RMB/Wh, with a weighted average price of 1.05 RMB/Wh, up 4% month-on-month. The bid price range for 4-hour energy storage EPC was 0.75-1.29 RMB/Wh, with a weighted average price of 0.99 RMB/Wh, up 6% month-on-month.
